Radius Aerospace– Shelbyville is a leading manufacturer of sheet metal parts and assemblies used in the aviation industry. We utilize a wide range of metal forming techniques and special manufacturing processes, servicing the commercial, military, regional jet, helicopter, and general aviation markets.
Position Summary
Employee must be familiar with the inspection methods, techniques, practice, aids, equipment and tools used to determine the customer requirements. Proficient in using various types of inspection equipment and visual inspection aids appropriate for the article being inspected.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Makes decision as to acceptable levels of in-process or finished parts without direction of supervision. Must bring unacceptable parts to the attention of the Quality Supervisor.
- Comprehensive Knowledge in Blueprint reading, Precision measurements and applied math
- Experience in using precision measurement instruments
- Proficient with researching, interpreting and applying customer specifications and work instructions or procedures
- Maintain product quality documentation by keeping accurate records and files.
- Maintain equipment by following manufacturing procedures and process specifications
- Fosters positive relationships with internal and external customers.
- Contributes to team effort by maintaining a positive attitude.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Minimum of 1 year inspection experience.
- Understanding of FAI and general inspection procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be able to use tape measure, scales, gauges, calipers, micrometers, indicators, templates, and check fixtures to verify setups for first article parts.
- Must be able to verify 1st piece, in process and final inspection parts for accuracy to match prints, specifications or process sheets
- Experienced in using precision measuring instruments
- Must read and interpret process/quality work instructions.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Computer skills necessary to learn/operate word processing, spreadsheets, email, and web-based applications
- Basic knowledge of Work Health & Safety as they apply to a work safe environment
- Good regular attendance is required.
