Job DescriptionMinimum 1+ years special education experience required.
An educational opportunity is available for a Special Education certified teacher to work with middle and high school students in a K-12 school setting located in Billings, MT. This position is contract to hire for the uping school year, with a mitment to supporting students with diverse needs and mental health challenges within a dynamic academic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique learning goals and requirements of each student.
- Foster positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families to create a supportive and inclusive learning atmosphere.
- Provide specialized instruction and support for students with mental health struggles, ensuring their academic and emotional needs are met.
- Manage a caseload of 8-12 students, with some classes featuring smaller groups (4-5 students), allowing for personalized attention across a variety of subjects including VoAg, Woodworking, Physical Education, Art, Music, Business Education, Technology, Science, Social Studies, Mathematics, Special Education, and English.
- Maintain adherence to state and federal special education guidelines and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support student success.
- Participate in professional development, including potential certification through a Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) training program focusing on de-escalation techniques and safe person-to-person restraints, designed to handle situations involving student safety with dignity and care.
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education certification.
- Experience and proficiency in IEP development and implementation.
- Skilled in building trusting relationships with students, particularly those facing mental health challenges.
- Willingness to plete VIP certification to enhance safety and support strategies.
- Strong organizational and munication skills.

Schedule and Location:
- Position hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Work within a prehensive academic calendar.
- Grade range served: 6th through 12th grade.
- Based in Billings, MT.
