Job DescriptionDescriptionThis position is ideal for early to mid-level professionals to join the Logistics / Shipping & Receiving team as a Shipping & Receiving Clerk, supporting the efficient handling, movement, and control of materials across operations.
In this role, you will perform both physical and administrative tasks related to the shipping, receiving, storing, and distribution of materials, parts, supplies, and equipment. You will partner with cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing, R&D, and Administration, to ensure accurate material flow, timely shipments, and compliance with operational standards.
This role is critical to maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting production continuity, and ensuring a high level of service to internal and external customers.
Role expectations• Support the shipping department with packaging, picking, inspection, and area maintenance.• Receive incoming materials and prepare outbound shipments from manufacturing, administration, R&D, and other departments.• Perform visual verification to ensure completeness and accuracy of inbound and outbound materials (raw and processed).• Assist in inspection and verification of incomplete manufacturing or non-production shipments (IQC).• Identify, reject, or place on hold non-conforming or incomplete items prior to shipment.• Apply First-In, First-Out (FIFO) methodology to overnight shipments according to defined schedules.• Ensure shipments are processed and dispatched accurately and on time.• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the department.• Maintain shipping and receiving equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies, and carts.• Serve as a key processing resource for incoming materials, including inspection, documentation, delivery, and area upkeep.• Verify commercial invoices, packing lists, and quantities for all shipments received and processed.• Perform physical movement and transportation of materials within the facility and storage areas.• Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and company standards.• Report unsafe conditions or activities to management or Human Resources.• Support team objectives and participate in initiatives to achieve departmental and company goals.• Perform other duties as assigned.
What we're looking for• Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or related logistics operations. • Language Skills: Ability to read, write, and understand instructions, correspondence, and basic documentation; able to communicate effectively in individual and small group settings. Spanish language proficiency is a plus. • Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), calculate rates and percentages, and interpret basic charts. • Reasoning Ability: Ability to follow detailed but straightforward written and verbal instructions and resolve issues involving a limited number of variables. • Computer Skills: Basic proficiency in email, word processing, and spreadsheets; comfortable with data entry and system navigation. • Teamwork & Communication: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail Complementary skills • Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and material handling equipment.• Familiarity with inventory systems, ERP tools (e.g., SAP), or warehouse management systems.• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment. Pay TransparencyIf provided, base salary or wage rate ranges are the range in which Align reasonably expects to set a candidate’s pay for the posted position. Actual placement depends on the individual skills and experience level of a candidate plus the total compensation and equity across team members. For other locations outside of the primary location, the base salary range will be adjusted geographically. For Field Sales roles, the salary listed is the base pay only and does not include the applicable incentive compensation plan. A cost of living adjustment may be added to base pay for higher cost areas in the U.S. Our internship hourly rates are a standard pay determined based on the position and your location, year in school, degree, and experience.
