What You'll Do
As an EMT, you will provide Basic Life Support (BLS) care and safe medical transport within the full scope of your certification and license. Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering patient care in out-of-hospital settings
- Safely transporting patients between facilities or from emergency scenes
- Documenting care using electronic patient care records
- Communicating clearly and compassionately with patients, partners, and medical staff
- Maintaining, cleaning, and restocking vehicles and equipment
- Operating ambulances safely and in compliance with all laws and company policies
- Reporting safety concerns and supporting a culture of safety and professionalism
- Assisting with base cleaning and maintenance as needed
- Performing other duties as assigned to support service excellence
What You Bring
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 21 years of age
- Ability to meet the physical and functional demands of the role
- National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification
- Oregon EMT license (OHA)
- Valid Oregon or Washington Driver’s License with clean driving record
- Basic Life Support (AHA or Red Cross)
- Ability to pass a National Criminal Record Check which includes fingerprint identification. *If a record exists, the nature and severity of charges will be discussed with candidates and, in some cases, may not be a barrier to employment.
Physical Demands
This position requires the ability to perform physically intensive tasks, including:
- Lifting over 100 lbs. occasionally and 50 lbs. frequently
- Carrying equipment, assisting patients, and working in tight or low-light environments
- Performing fine motor skills in a moving ambulance
- Walking extended distances while carrying equipment
- Hearing and communicating clearly in loud or dynamic conditions
- Driving in varied weather and lighting conditions
*This position may be required to perform “Safety Sensitive” duties per Federal Transit Administration (FTA) guidelines. When required the employee assigned to this position must participate and remain in compliance with the FTA Drug and Alcohol testing program, including pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident testing.
