Position Overview
We are hiring Military Records Clerks to provide clerical office support for the Air Force Accession Center. This role includes remote and in-office tasks supporting medical operations across 65 MEPS locations. Responsibilities include managing patient records, coordinating documentation for healthcare providers, ensuring timely arrival of medical files, and facilitating internal referrals.
Responsibilities
- Communicate general instructions to applicants and refer them to appropriate Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) sections as needed
- Retrieve, update, and file medical records to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Organize and research patient records, extract required information, and verify data for consistency with established guidelines
- Ensure timely arrival and availability of medical records before scheduled appointments
- Initiate and locate medical records when requested by staff or healthcare providers
- Obtain supporting documentation, such as lab results or medical records not yet filed, to assist medical processing
- Perform general clerical and administrative tasks to support medical operations and ensure smooth workflow
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; associate’s degree in administration or healthcare preferred
- 1–2 years of administrative or clerical experience, preferably in a healthcare or military setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic computer operations.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and comply with privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
- Experience handling medical records or using electronic health systems (preferred).
- Familiarity with military structure or terminology (preferred but not required).
- Must be eligible for security clearance or background check.
- Experience with the following systems preferred:
- Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA)
- Composite Health Care Systems (CHCS) and/or MHS GENESIS
- Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS)
- Air Force Recruiting Information Support System (AFRISS)
- Schedule & Compensation
- Standard hours: Mon–Fri, 0730–1630 (7:30–4:30)
- Federal holidays off

- Must attend initial orientation in-person at JBSA-Randolph regardless of hybrid/remote status
