Position Overview

We are hiring Military Records Clerks to provide clerical office support for the Air Force Accession Center. This role includes remote and in-office tasks supporting medical operations across 65 MEPS locations. Responsibilities include managing patient records, coordinating documentation for healthcare providers, ensuring timely arrival of medical files, and facilitating internal referrals.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate general instructions to applicants and refer them to appropriate Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) sections as needed
  • Retrieve, update, and file medical records to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Organize and research patient records, extract required information, and verify data for consistency with established guidelines
  • Ensure timely arrival and availability of medical records before scheduled appointments
  • Initiate and locate medical records when requested by staff or healthcare providers
  • Obtain supporting documentation, such as lab results or medical records not yet filed, to assist medical processing
  • Perform general clerical and administrative tasks to support medical operations and ensure smooth workflow

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or GED required; associate’s degree in administration or healthcare preferred
    • 1–2 years of administrative or clerical experience, preferably in a healthcare or military setting.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic computer operations.
    • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and comply with privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
    • Experience handling medical records or using electronic health systems (preferred).
    • Familiarity with military structure or terminology (preferred but not required).
    • Must be eligible for security clearance or background check.

    • Experience with the following systems preferred:
      • Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA)
      • Composite Health Care Systems (CHCS) and/or MHS GENESIS
      • Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS)
      • Air Force Recruiting Information Support System (AFRISS)
  • Schedule & Compensation
    • Standard hours: Mon–Fri, 0730–1630 (7:30–4:30)
    • Federal holidays off
    • Flexible/telework options apply
    • Must attend initial orientation in-person at JBSA-Randolph regardless of hybrid/remote status
