An opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse with expertise in critical and progressive care to support patient care needs across Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) settings. This contract role requires flexibility, advanced clinical skills, and a commitment to high-quality nursing in a fast-paced environment.

Position Details:
- Schedule: 3x12-hour day shifts (6:45 AM 7:15 PM)
- Floating between ICU and PCU units as staffing needs change, potentially 2-3 times per shift
- Weekend availability required: either every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts across a 6-week block
- One holiday shift per 13-week contract required
- Experience with electronic charting in EPIC system is mandatory
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid RN license with Virginia state or compact license; pending license from a non-compact state acceptable under certain conditions
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years ICU experience at a large Level 1 or 2 trauma center
- Proficiency in advanced ICU clinical skills including:
IV therapy management (arterial lines, central/PICC lines, blood products)
Respiratory support (ventilator, BiPAP, CPAP management)
Continuous IV sedation and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips
Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
Wound care involving surgical drains and wound vacs
Adherence to IV insulin protocols
Unit Ratios: ICU 2:1, PCU 5:1
Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care in critical and progressive care areas
- Adapt to frequent unit floating to meet dynamic patient census and acuity needs
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient outcomes
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies and clinical best practices
