Job Description
The Accountant will play an important role in managing the day-to-day financial activities of the company. This position will oversee accounting functions including financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and budgeting support.
The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced service-based environment. This role will collaborate closely with leadership, project managers, and operations teams to ensure financial accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Manage the general ledger, journal entries, and account reconciliations
- Assist with financial forecasting and budgeting processes
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide recommendations to management
Accounts Payable
- Process vendor invoices and ensure accurate coding and timely payments
- Maintain vendor files and ensure documentation is complete and organized
- Resolve vendor inquiries and discrepancies in a timely manner
Accounts Receivable
- Generate customer invoices and track payments
- Monitor outstanding balances and assist with collections as needed
- Maintain accurate customer billing records
Reporting & Compliance
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
- Prepare reports for internal leadership and external accounting partners
- Support financial audits and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Help maintain internal financial controls and procedures
Operational & Project Support
- Work with project managers to monitor project costs and budgets
- Assist with job costing and project profitability tracking
- Support payroll coordination and employee expense tracking
- Provide financial insights that support operational decision-making
- Handle shipping and receiving of company products
- In charge of inventory management to ensure company is efficiently utilizing products
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
Experience
- 3+ years of accounting experience preferred
- Experience working in service-based, construction, or project-based accounting environments is highly desirable
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar accounting systems
Skills
- Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
