The Food Services & Nutrition Manager leads all aspects of our daily food operations while building a warm, trauma‑informed environment where unhoused women can learn, connect, and thrive. This role blends hands‑on kitchen leadership, nutrition education, and community partnership to ensure every meal supports health, confidence, and autonomy.

???? What You’ll Lead & ShapeFood Program Operations

  • Oversee daily preparation of breakfast and lunch for ~100 women
  • Design inclusive, nutritionally balanced menus that respect cultural preferences and dietary needs (diabetes, hypertension, allergies)
  • Plan and execute special occasion meals (Thanksgiving, Christmas, community celebrations)
  • Maintain high standards of meal quality, portion control, and timely service
  • Oversee the Food Pantry, ensuring dignity‑centered access and consistent inventory with Development Team support

Nutrition Education & Culinary Empowerment

  • Teach foundational culinary skills including food preparation, safety, and simple cooking techniques
  • Provide practical, trauma‑informed nutrition education that supports everyday wellness
  • Adapt learning approaches to honor diverse backgrounds, skill levels, and lived experiences

Kitchen & Compliance Leadership

  • Manage kitchen operations including procurement, inventory, storage, and equipment maintenance
  • Ensure full compliance with all local, state, and federal food safety regulations
  • Maintain accurate records related to budgets, compliance, and food service operations

Staff & Volunteer Management

  • Supervise, train, and support kitchen staff and volunteers
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative kitchen culture
  • Develop workflows, schedules, and clear expectations
  • Partner with Program Managers and Lead Program Associates to ensure uninterrupted meal service during emergent needs

Budget & Resource Stewardship

  • Manage the food services budget with accountability and care
  • Maximize donated food while upholding nutrition, safety, and quality standards
  • Prepare monthly cost reports, including vendor orders and expense reconciliations

Community Collaboration

  • Partner with internal teams to align food services with participant needs
  • Build and sustain relationships with food donors, vendors, and community‑based partners
  • Support nutrition education, food access, and wellness initiatives through strategic collaboration

???? Who We’re Looking ForRequired Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in food service or institutional food management
  • Strong understanding of nutrition principles and special dietary needs
  • Food safety certification (ServSafe or equivalent) or ability to obtain
  • Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers
  • Commitment to working respectfully with unhoused and marginalized populations
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build trust with participants and volunteers
  • Ability to lift 75+ lbs and remain on feet for extended periods

Preferred Experience

  • Education or coursework in nutrition, public health, culinary arts, or a related field
  • Experience in shelters, residential programs, healthcare, or social services
  • Familiarity with trauma‑informed care, harm reduction, and culturally responsive practices
  • Budget management experience
  • Experience in human services or homelessness‑focused programs

⏰ Schedule & Work Environment

  • Full‑time: Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
  • Occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays for special events
  • Essential onsite role; reliability and consistency are critical
  • Physical activity includes standing, lifting, walking, and kitchen operations
