POSITION TITLE: Senior Accountant
REPORTS TO: NJPCA President & CEO
STATUS: Full Time, Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: MBA/CPA with 5-7 years’ experience in accounting, audit and budgeting in a non-profit setting. Experience in Access, Excel, or similar spreadsheet programs and/or database programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Certified Public Accountant. Knowledge of auditing practices and principles; knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations; grant experience, knowledge and experience of accounting computer applications; and a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the management of financial systems and budgets, financial reporting, financial data analysis, auditing, taxation and providing financial advice.Keep current on new technology dealing with various financial software as well as local, state and federal. Must be able to work independently.
- Manage the Annual Audit Process
- Calculate federal indirect rate annually
- Calculate monthly 403b employer contribution, maintain compliance with the Plan Document
- Federal FSR report – prepared annually
- Process biweekly payroll
- Review and annual filing of Form 5500, Form 990, and the NJ Charities Registration
- Biweekly federal drawdown
- Perform billing and record cash receipts
- Prepare annual budget in conjunction with the President & CEO
- Prepare grant expenditure reports
- Prepare and report to the NJPCA Finance Committee and the NJPCA Board the monthly financial statements on the accrual basis; tie out financials
- Prepare monthly income statement for grants and distribute to program managers
- Prepare variance analysis to budget
- Process 1099’s – Annually
- Record all financial transactions for NJPCA, preserve the integrity and security of the general ledger system
- Record vendor invoices and disburse payments
- Perform other duties as required
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to travel within the State, region and United States.
SALARY RANGES: Commensurate with experience.
WORK HOURS: Professional, 35 hours plus.
