Certified Medical Coder

At the Applied Behavior Center for Autism, our mission is to provide individualized,
evidence-based services to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families.
Position Overview:
As a Certified Medical Coder, you will be responsible for reviewing clinical documentation,
assigning appropriate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes, and supporting clean claim submission
processes. Your role is essential in helping us maintain compliance, reduce denials, and ensure
timely reimbursement for services provided.
Required Qualifications:
● Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent
credential.
Compensation:
Pay Range: $21-$30 per hour commensurate with prior experience.

Key Responsibilities:
● Assign accurate and compliant CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes for the services we offer
● Review clinical documentation for coding accuracy
● Collaborate with clinical and billing teams to resolve documentation or coding
discrepancies
● Assist with claims denials and re-submissions, providing coding corrections when needed
● Stay informed of current coding regulations, payer policies, and service-specific coding
updates
● Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and other compliance standards
Preferred Qualifications:
● Minimum 1–2 years of medical coding experience (behavioral health preferred)
● Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems
● Experience with EHR systems
● Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills
● Previous coding experience in a behavioral health setting
● Understanding of Medicaid and commercial insurance billing procedures
● Knowledge of documentation requirements for medical necessities

● This is a full-time position with hybrid work options based on location and department
needs.
