- Pay Rate: $28 – $31/hr
- Shift Hours: M–F, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (some flexibility; possible on-call)
Job Summary:The Building Engineer supports daily building operations and maintenance within a high-paced industrial manufacturing environment. This role is vital in sustaining HVAC, fire safety, plumbing, and structural systems while ensuring compliance and client safety standards. The engineer will work closely with vendors, internal teams, and client personnel to maintain high service quality and operational continuity.Key Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical, plumbing, structural, fire life safety, control systems, HVAC equipment, furniture, and facility infrastructure.
- Maintain facility systems to established safety, performance, and compliance standards.
- Support energy management initiatives and ensure efficient operation of building systems.
- Assist in implementing preventive maintenance programs to maximize system lifespan.
- Perform emergency repairs as required.
- Follow policies related to safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Conduct inspections on building systems (fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing) to ensure proper operating conditions.
- Support new account transition activities, helping build strong relationships between the client.
- Respond to facility issues including restroom problems, painting/touch-ups, HVAC servicing, fire suppression monitoring, extinguisher checks, and eyewash system checks.
- Work independently or in coordination with vendors; receive training support from onsite teams.
- Apply in-depth knowledge to deliver solutions, coach others, and support cross-disciplinary tasks.
- Communicate complex or sensitive information clearly and effectively.
- Model RISE values and help guide team alignment.
Required Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required; trade school preferred.
- At least 4 years of building engineering or related experience.
- Universal CFC certification preferred.
- Certifications/licenses as required by state/local jurisdictions.
- Ability to meet physical demands: lifting 50+ lbs, climbing ladders/stairs, stooping, standing, walking.
- Experience in high-paced industrial or manufacturing environments preferred.
Nice-to-Have Experience:
- Prior supervisory or shift management experience.
- Manufacturing background.
- Additional technical certifications or licenses.
- Familiarity with lockout/tagout procedures.
Required Skills:
- Strong troubleshooting ability
- Ability to work independently
- High confidence in mechanical and technical skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
Preferred Skills:
- IOS and Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word)
- Vendor coordination and site-walk experience
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to manage “new account” transition tasks
- Leadership and directing staff or vendors
Additional Skills:
- Knowledge of HVAC systems
- Fire suppression and safety system monitoring
- Painting and repair tasks
- Working within safety guidelines requiring PPE: eye/ear protection, high-visibility vest, cut-resistant gloves, steel/composite toe boots
- Ability to handle sensitive or complex information
- Ability to follow broad policies with limited supervision
