Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Boiler Room Operator for our night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. You will begin your training directly on the night shift and have the potential for a pay increase after 30 days, depending on qualifications. In this role, you will work in a control room, monitor equipment, and utilize hand and power tools to manage wood chips effectively.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor boiler room equipment efficiently.
• Use hand and power tools to unplug wood chips and maintain equipment.
• Make critical decisions about the process independently.
• Operate an L60H loader safely to add fuel to fuel chains, load trucks with chips, and transport fuel from block yard to fluid flame area.
• Cover vacations for fellow operators with shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
• Understand and follow standard operating procedures by reading and discussing the fluid flame booklet with a supervisor.
• Participate in safety meetings and maintain a safe working environment.
• Engage in scheduled shutdowns for equipment maintenance in the fluid flame department.
• Adhere to plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures, reporting potential safety hazards.
• Demonstrate initiative, urgency, and teamwork capabilities.
• Follow the company's code of conduct.
• Understand and follow verbal and written instructions and specifications.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor or lead.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in boiler operation and machine operation.
• Skill in computer operation and use of hand and power tools.
• Ability to make critical decisions independently.
• Safe operation of an L60H loader.
• Knowledge of hand tools such as battery drills, impact tools, ratchet wrenches, pry bars, screwdrivers, and channel locks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience covering shifts and understanding standard operating procedures.
• Participation in safety meetings and adherence to safety guidelines.
• Willingness to participate in scheduled maintenance shutdowns.

This is a Contract position based out of Moncure, North Carolina.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
