Lake Area Discovery Center is a Christian-based, NAEYC-accredited, non-profit early childhood program that partners with churches and schools to provide high-quality care and education for young children.
Hiring a PreK Assistant or the Lake Area Discovery Center at Faith Lutheran in Forest Lake, MN . The position is year-round, Monday through Friday.
* 8:00-4:30 PM: Working with the teaching team leads, we end the day with mixed-age preschool and toddlers.
$20.00-$24.00/hour, depending on education, experience, and DHS Licensing qualifications.
The Lake Area Discovery Center has served pre-kindergarten students ages 6 weeks to 5 years in the White Bear Lake/Forest Lake/Stillwater Community for the past 25 years. Partnering with the ministry and education programs at St. Paul's and the Forest Lake/Wyoming Communities, LADC provides rich education and faith-formation experiences. Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development coursework preferred; willingness to pursue additional education required for advancement
- Previous experience working with young children preferred
- Experience in a classroom, childcare center, church education program, or similar setting beneficial
- Ability to assist with supervising children throughout the day, including activities, playtime, transitions, meals, and snacks
- Ability to support lead teachers in implementing age-appropriate curriculum and learning activities
- Ability to assist with classroom management and help maintain a safe, nurturing, and structured environment
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, coworkers, and families
- Patient, positive attitude with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
- Ability to follow program philosophy and align with Lake Area Discovery Center’s mission and values
- CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain shortly after hire
- Willingness to complete required health and safety training for child care professionals
- Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check and child abuse registry check
- Ability to actively engage with young children, including sitting, standing, bending, and lifting up to approximately 40 pounds
