At Hi-Way Paving, we are general contractors in the construction field that specialize in significant amounts of concrete paving, storm drainage, and excavation on highways and airfields.


We are seeking an experienced General Foreman to lead our grading and paving operations. This hands-on position involves overseeing both grading and paving crews, ensuring compliance with FAA, USACE, and state DOT specifications. The General Foreman will coordinate equipment, materials, and crew activities to meet production goals while maintaining strict schedule requirements. You will work closely with Hi-Way’s job-site leadership, reviewing procedures and ensuring high-quality results every day.


Location: Currently located in Nashville, TN (with future travel required to various job sites including Charlotte, NC, Columbia, SC, and others)


What You'll Do:

  • Lead and manage both dirt and paving crews to achieve production goals.
  • Inspect grade, forms, and steel placement to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Oversee slipform and fixed form paving operations.
  • Operate and coordinate the use of GOMACO paving equipment with stringless technology.
  • Monitor and ensure that all placement, finishing, and curing operations comply with project specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints for grading and paving tasks.
  • Delegate tasks and schedule workers to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Coordinate the delivery of equipment and materials.
  • Manage daily timekeeping, cost coding, and equipment logs.
  • Provide on-the-job training and enforce performance expectations.
  • Promote and enforce safety regulations according to site-specific plans and governing authorities.


What We Look For:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a construction/paving foreman or in a similar construction job-site management role.
  • Experience with GOMACO paving equipment is preferred.
  • Enhanced training or certifications in safety and/or OSHA regulations preferred.
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to travel overnight up to 100% based on project needs.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Ability to gain clearance for restricted/high-security zones (e.g., airport AOA, military bases).
    • Willingness to travel 100% of the time.
    • Valid driver’s license.
    • Physical ability to lift 75 lbs, climb, walk, kneel, squat, push, pull, and enter confined spaces.
