POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Receptionist
PROGRAM: All
JOB SUMMARY: Greetall peoplewho are calling and/orcomingintothe reception area ofHiawatha Valley Mental Health Center.Verify client information at each visit, including insurance information,and updateincomputeras needed; collect client payments; schedule/reschedule clients.Work cooperatively, efficiently, and effectively with both client and staff to ensureneedsof clients/Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center are met.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Greet andassistclients.
- Transfercalls to theappropriate staff/department.
- Verify client address, phone number and billing sources, updatingrecordsas necessary.Copy insurance cards.
- Collect and record client payments.
- Notify clinicians of arrival of clientsintimelymanner.
- Schedule andreschedule appointments as needed, letclinicianknow about appointmentchanges.
- Fill in for other receptionist(s)at satellite officesas needed.
- Typing/word processingand sendingcorrespondenceforcliniciansas needed.
- Verify client insurance benefits byappropriate systemvia internet or phone.
- AssistIntakewithpaperwork, as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION:Must be able to move in a manner conducive to the execution of daily activities.While performing the duties of this job, the employee must communicate with others and exchange information.The employee regularlyoperatesequipment (listed below)on a daily basis.Occasional bending and lifting of office materials may berequired.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performother duties as assigned bythe Office Manager.
EQUIPMENT USED:MicrosoftOffice (Word,Exceland Outlook programs), billing/schedules/clinical software, 10-key calculator, personal computer, laser printer, copier, fax machine, postage meter,telephone/cell phone, multi-line phone system.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Prior receptionist experience, preferably withmulti-line phone system.
- Good communicationskills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability and knowledge tooperateand use computers and word processing software inWindowsenvironment.
- Must be able tomaintainconfidentiality.
- Mustpossessa vehiclevalid drivers license and a willingness to travel as needed toorganizationlocations throughout SE MN.
