Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM


Position Summary

Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments from metal materials. The Machinist uses metalworking machines to create prototypes, support product development, and improve existing products by manufacturing high-quality components to exact specifications.

The Machinist plays a key role in maintaining production efficiency, supporting engineering and manufacturing teams, and ensuring all machined components meet company quality and safety standards.


Responsibilities / Duties

  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and sketches.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations required for machining processes.
  • Use hand-held measuring tools such as calipers to verify part dimensions.
  • Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers.
  • Set up and operate manual and/or CNC machine tools including lathes, mills, and drill presses.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials for machining operations.
  • Adjust machine speeds, feeds, and tooling to maintain product quality and production efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate production records and inspection documentation.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments to correct dimensional or operational problems.
  • Work closely with engineering or production teams to support prototype development and product improvements.
  • Follow all workplace safety policies, procedures, and manufacturing best practices.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area in accordance with 5S or facility standards.

Key Requirements, Skills & Qualifications

Tools Used:
Calipers, Gauges, Lathes, Mills, Squares, Desktop computer, Scanner, Copier, Printer, Telephone.

  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and sketches.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English, including understanding basic oral instructions and written memos.
  • High degree of mechanical ability to disassemble and reassemble machines and components efficiently.
  • Operation Monitoring – Watching gauges, dials, or indicators to ensure machines are operating correctly.
  • Critical Thinking – Using logic and reasoning to evaluate solutions and troubleshoot issues.
  • Reading Comprehension – Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
  • Experience operating manual machining equipment such as engine lathes and vertical mills.
  • Ability to read and understand precision measurement instruments and tolerances.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation, work orders, or data entry.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining high accuracy.
  • Familiarity with machining metals such as aluminum, stainless steel, brass, and other alloys is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to frequently lift, push, or pull objects weighing 50 pounds or less.
  • Requires standing for most of the shift.

· Ability to bend, stoop, and reach throughout the workday.

· Ability to safely operate machinery and handle metal materials.

· Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, moving machinery, and metalworking equipment.

Minimum Education Required

  • High School Diploma or graduation from a certified Technical College.
