Sterling Engineering is looking for a Controls Engineer for a leading manufacturer of packaging. This is a great opportunity to work with a growing company that loves to promote from within!
Job Duties:

  • Lead and coordinate field repairs for industrial filling equipment, working with both technical and non-technical teams to ensure timely resolutions.
  • Install, program, calibrate, test, and maintain electrical control systems and components, including servos, RTDs, and pneumatic devices.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize control systems for deployed equipment—performing component replacements, electrical wiring, PLC programming, and system upgrades.
  • Manage the integration of automated filling machines with auxiliary systems, ensuring proper communication and performance according to specifications.
  • Read and apply technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams to support equipment assembly, disassembly, repair, and validation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, business development, clients, and leadership to plan deployments, resolve issues, and provide clear status updates. Maintain detailed reports on system performance, service history, and equipment condition.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience diagnosing and resolving complex issues involving servo programming, electrical systems, mechanical components, and pneumatic machinery.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience with Rockwell Automation platforms, including Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and programming with Studio 5000.
  • Skilled in AutoCAD, with the ability to create and interpret detailed technical schematics.
  • Knowledge of NEC, OSHA, and other applicable safety and regulatory standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
