Job Description
The General Laborer supports facility maintenance by performing physically demanding outdoor and indoor cleanup tasks over a short-term, full-time assignment. This role involves clearing drainage systems, removing debris, and assisting maintenance staff to ensure a clean and safe environment. We offer weekly pay with overtime paying time and a half. Responsibilities
- Perform outdoor cleanup around the plant, focusing on maintaining a clean and safe exterior environment.
- Lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 70 pounds throughout the shift.
- Remove and clean drainage grates around the building by clearing leaves and debris using a shovel.
- Assist with clearing catch basins and ensuring proper water flow around the facility.
- Shovel debris and material into buckets or into the back of a pickup truck while working alongside maintenance staff.
- Scrape and remove built-up debris from designated areas as directed.
- Pick up leaves and general outdoor debris to keep walkways and surrounding areas clear.
- Assist with interior cleanup tasks when needed, including general tidying and light painting if weather prevents outdoor work.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required protective gear at all times.
- Take direction from onsite maintenance personnel and complete tasks efficiently and accurately.
Essential Skills
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds repeatedly during the workday.
- Ability to shovel, scrape, bend, and perform repetitive physical tasks safely.
- Ability to stand and work on your feet for the full duration of the shift.
- Reliable attendance and commitment to completing the full 2-week assignment.
- Willingness to work primarily outdoors in varying conditions.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety procedures.
- Ownership of steel toe boots suitable for physical labor work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Prior general labor experience is helpful but not required.
- Previous maintenance or janitorial experience is an asset.
- Comfort working as part of a team with onsite maintenance staff.
- Basic familiarity with outdoor work such as cleanup or similar physical tasks.

Work Environment
This role is primarily outdoors and involves working around a plant facility. You will frequently work in wet or muddy conditions while clearing drainage grates and catch basins. The assignment follows a Monday–Friday schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. You will work closely with maintenance staff and may occasionally move indoors for cleanup or light painting tasks if weather prevents outdoor work. The position does not include mowing, trimming, or landscaping duties. Steel toe boots are required as part of the dress code to ensure safety during physical tasks.
