This is a Sherman Associates owned Marriott International, Inc franchised location.
Our servers play a major role in the hotel's Food & Beverage experience. The Spirit to Serve is a key element in a positive customer experience. A server must be friendly, courteous, professional, and demonstrate strong communication skills. Must be able to manage multiple priorities, think/act quickly and effectively while maintaining self-composure. Bartending experience is preferred.
Schedule: We are currently seeking part-time availability to include both weekdays and weekends. M-F:6:00a-11a and 4:30p-11p Sat/Sun: 8a-12a
Pay: $11.13/hour.
Essential Functions
- Serves multiple tables, as determined by management
- Understands Room Service, Club Lounge, Banquet and Restaurant's food and beverage menu
- Takes and fills customer orders
- Upsells alcohol and food items
- Uses the computer to ring orders and guest checks
- Interacts with all guests in a friendly/fast manner
- Accepts different types of payments and makes accurate change
- Maintains specific side-work and ensures the cleanliness and smooth operation of the restaurant
- Quickly clears and resets tables
- Checks identification of guests to ensure legal age to consume alcoholic beverages. Refuses to serve beverages in a polite manner to guests who are not of legal age
- If consuming alcoholic beverages, observes guest's behavior, counts number of drinks served, and if the server feels they should not drive, offers
- Knows when to escalate situations for management intervention
- Completes other tasks and duties as assigned based on business needs
Minimum Requirements
- Previous hotel/hospitality or related service industry experience is strongly preferred
- Previous bartending experience is preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow directions in a multi-lingual environment
- Must be able to pass required Alcohol service training

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This job operates behind the bar and may be working in close proximity to co-workers
- The noise level in the work environment can be loud
- Hazards may include, but are not limited to, cuts, slipping, tripping and burns
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to sit or stand in designated work area throughout the day based on business needs
- Must have the ability to move around freely throughout the designated work area
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach tables and kitchen in a timely manner
- Must be able to lift up to 25-30 lbs. frequently throughout shift, and lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. occasionally
- Requires grasping, writing, sitting or standing, moving about freely, using computer, repetitive motions, bending, reaching, crouching, and communicating effectively
- Must be willing and able to wash hands frequently throughout the shift
