Job DescriptionPhysical Medicine and Rehabilitation - Physician Opportunity

This role is for a board-certified or board-eligible physiatrist specializing in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at a prominent hospital in New York City. Key responsibilities encompass conducting patient evaluations, designing rehabilitation programs, executing electrodiagnostic and injection procedures, and leading multidisciplinary care teams. Our organization is seeking to expand its Rehabilitation Medicine division by adding a Physiatrist. The hospital serves as the largest healthcare facility in Central Harlem and is recognized as the sole Safety Net Hospital in Northern Manhattan. It is known for its centers of excellence in Bariatric Surgery, Breast Imaging, and Sexual Assault Forensics, continuing to provide exceptional care to all New Yorkers.

Opportunity Details:

  • Work collaboratively with a diverse team, including physiatrists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, clerical staff, and nursing personnel.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations and create tailored rehabilitation programs.
  • Provide patient care through both outpatient and inpatient consultations.
  • Lead and coordinate a team of therapy and clinical professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Perform electrodiagnostic studies, Botox injections, joint/trigger point injections, and hyaluronic acid injections.
  • Maintain a regular schedule of weekdays from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with no weekend or on-call duties.

Qualifications:

  • Board Certification or Eligibility in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
  • Possession of an active or eligible New York State medical license.
  • Experience in pediatric rehabilitation, wheelchair clinics, orthotic and prosthetic clinics, and acupuncture is preferred.
  • Proficiency in musculoskeletal ultrasound is also preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:

Annual Base Salary: $222,000* (for board eligible); $227,000* (for board certified), based on a 40-hour work week. Additional compensation may be available for extra call or sessional/per diem hours.

The estimated total annual compensation package is approximately $339,720** (for board eligible) and $345,220** (for board certified), which includes the base salary, 401(k) contributions, sessional/per diem hours, and other factors outlined below:

  • Estimated annual compensation for 10 additional sessional/per diem hours worked per week is $55,520.
  • Projected bonuses of up to $40,000 (based on the previous year’s average), contingent upon meeting quality and productivity targets.
  • 401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS limits):
    • Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings, with no employee match required.
    • After one year of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings, with no employee match required.
  • Annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) reimbursement.
  • Generous Annual Paid Time Off (PTO) including vacation, sick leave, holidays, and CME days.
  • Comprehensive Medical, Prescription, and Dental Coverage: Premium plans with employee contributions significantly below market rates.
  • Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Coverage: Equal to 2x your salary (up to a maximum of $300,000) at no cost to you.
    • Additional employee-paid Voluntary Life and AD&D coverage is available for you and your family.
  • Loan Forgiveness: This position may qualify for loan forgiveness through specific state or federal programs.
  • Medical Malpractice Coverage (equivalent to occurrence-based): Provided at no cost to the employee.
  • Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs).
  • Pre-tax employee-paid contributions for commuting expenses.
  • Visa sponsorship may be considered for this role.
