Location: Savannah / Pooler, GA
Contract Length: 6 months (likely extension to 9–12 months, with probability of hire)
Pay: $40–$42/hr on contract. If hired full‐time, compensation range increases.
Schedule: Monday-Friday: 8:00AM - 5:00PM
Position Overview
The Quality Engineer will support machining operations across multiple bays in a hands‐on, “boots on the ground” capacity. This role is responsible for applying industry‐standard quality management principles to improve manufacturing and service operations, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and the Quality Management System (QMS). Candidates with strong mechanical or machining experience are highly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Lead or support part and process qualifications.
- Analyze data to reduce non‐conformances and streamline processes.
- Develop and approve inspection plans; perform inspections as needed.
- Monitor inspection methods and calibration activities for compliance.
- Review customer and supplier inspection/test plans for feasibility.
- Generate and maintain quality procedures, specifications, and QMS documentation.
- Track and report quality metrics; manage Quality Notifications (QNs) through closure.
- Support internal quality audits, surveillance, and training initiatives.
- Promote innovation and continuous improvement across operations.
- Maintain document control and archival systems for quality records.
- Ensure adherence to metrological standards and inspection protocols.
Additional Responsibilities
- Write Quality Notifications (QN) and Quality Memos (QM).
- Perform root cause investigations and document findings in SAP.
- Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented and verified.
- Create and maintain quality records related to part qualifications.
- Perform 3D scanning of parts, generate reports, and submit findings to TGO.
- Review engineering drawings, analyze defects, and determine compliance or repair paths.
- Support internal quality reporting.
Day‐to‐Day Activities
- Review carryover issues from night shift.
- Write and update Quality Memos (QM).
- Create quality documentation such as bubble drawings and tolerance reviews.
- Support FIA reporting and track KPIs, scrap, rework, and labor hours.
- Build Pivot Tables to identify defect trends (location, cause, bay).
- Support and document preventive actions.

Floater Bay: 3, 4, 5
Bay 3 Equipment:
- Large Lathe (220 Lathe)
- Horizontal Boring Mill (HBM)
Bay 5 Equipment:
- Small and large lathes
- Small and large HBMs
- Vertical tooling lathes
- Grinding and cutting machines
- Side‐entry machines
Tools & Systems
- SAP
- SharePoint
- Excel (including Pivot Tables)
- Power BI
Required Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in a mechanical component manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline preferred (experience may outweigh degree).
- Strong mathematical proficiency (algebra, statistics, data analysis, ANOVA, correlation, sampling theory).
- Ability to interpret technical data, diagrams, and complex instructions.
- Skilled in creating and interpreting graphs, calculating rates/ratios/percentages.
- Experience with databases, spreadsheets, word processing, project management tools, statistical software, and diagramming applications.
