Job Description

Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities:

1. Equipment Operation:

   • Operate highwall mining equipment to extract coal or minerals from the highwall.
   • Monitor equipment performance and make adjustments as necessary to ensure optimal operation.
   • Ensure the safe and efficient movement of extracted materials from the highwall to designated storage or processing areas.

2. Safety Compliance:

   • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
   • Conduct pre-operational checks and routine maintenance of equipment to ensure it is in safe working condition.
   • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.

3. Production Monitoring:

   • Track and record production data, including the amount of material extracted and the operational hours of equipment.
   • Work closely with supervisors and other team members to meet production targets.

4. Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

   • Perform basic maintenance tasks on equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts.
   • Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and assist maintenance personnel with more complex repairs.

5. Environmental and Regulatory Compliance:

   • Ensure that operations are conducted in compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.
   • Participate in environmental monitoring and reporting as required.

6. Team Collaboration:

   • Work collaboratively with other operators, engineers, and supervisors to ensure seamless operations.
   • Participate in team meetings and safety briefings to discuss operational issues and improvements.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• WV Surface Miner Certification
• Previous experience operating highwall mining equipment or similar machinery is preferred.
• Knowledge of mining regulations and safety standards.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding and hazardous environment.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
