Job title: EKG Technician
Job location: Flushing, NY 11355
Shift: MON - FRI 8A-430P & rotating weekends One weekend day (saturday or sunday) 7A-330P
Pay: $20 - $24.5/hr Without Benefits
Contract: 2-month possible extension
Education:
High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma
A minimum of three (3) months experience as an EKG Technician
Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to perform ECG test and place various cardiac devices monitors
Ability to perform patient vital signs
Ability to work with and maintain confidential patient information
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to document and communicate patient observation of care and outcome of care in EMR system
Ability to operate a computer
Ability to adapt to changes in office procedures (Infinitt, EPIC)
Demonstrate a prominent level of professionalism
Ability to work on alternate weekends (Saturday and Sunday)
Duties:
- Performs 12 lead ECG tracing test
- Recognizes abnormal ECG rhythm tracings and notifies appropriate personnel
- Performs ECG ordered by providers in various departments throughout the hospital during working hours
- Assures proper patient positioning, preparation, and electrode placement for all test procedures
- Obtains and documents patient vital signs in appropriate system prior to ECG test
- Explains procedure and answers the patient's questions and concerns before, during and after ECG test
- Educates patients in the use of various cardiac arrhythmia monitors, which may include symptomatic events and/or making written entries of activities and symptoms
- Performs proper placement of various cardiac arrhythmia monitors
- Properly documents information in patient charts after placement of monitors
- Perform stocking and cleaning of ECG equipment and restocks ECG carts on a daily basis
- Performs other related duties assigned by the Supervisor. In an emergency, performs duties necessary for the welfare of patients or the efficient operation of the hospital.
