The Company:

This is a top-ranked, employee-owned engineering firm with offices across North America. The firm delivers mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and related services across every major building sector.

The Orlando office specializes in MEP engineering for the built environment, serving clients across municipal infrastructure, healthcare, theme parks, hospitality, commercial, education, science and technology, data centers, and government facilities. The Central Florida market provides a unique mix of project types rarely found in other regions.

The Opportunity

The firm is adding a Senior Electrical Engineer to its Orlando MEP team. This role carries significant project responsibility: leading electrical design from concept through construction administration on complex, multi-discipline projects. The successful candidate will serve as the electrical engineer of record on projects, mentor junior staff, coordinate with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and structural disciplines, and interface directly with clients, architects, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead electrical engineering design for commercial, municipal, healthcare, theme park, hospitality, education, and government projects
  • Serve as engineer of record, stamping and sealing drawings under your PE license
  • Design power distribution systems, lighting, fire alarm, emergency power, low-voltage, and telecommunications infrastructure
  • Perform engineering calculations including load analyses, short-circuit studies, arc flash analyses, voltage drop calculations, and coordination studies
  • Develop construction documents (plans, specifications, and details) using Revit and AutoCAD
  • Coordinate electrical design with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, structural, and architectural disciplines
  • Manage multiple project electrical scopes simultaneously, including budgets, schedules, and client communication
  • Conduct construction administration duties: RFI responses, submittal reviews, site observations, and punch lists
  • Mentor junior engineers, EI-level staff, and designers on the team
  • Participate in business development efforts including interviews, proposals, and client presentations
  • Apply relevant codes including NEC, NFPA, FBC, IBC, and local municipal requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET-accredited program
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (Florida PE preferred; ability to obtain FL PE within 6 months acceptable)
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in MEP consulting engineering for buildings and facilities
  • Strong background in building power distribution, lighting design, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems
  • Proficiency in Revit MEP for electrical design and production; AutoCAD proficiency as secondary
  • Experience with power system analysis software (SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower)
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 72, NFPA 101, Florida Building Code, and IBC
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects from concept through construction administration
  • Experience leading and mentoring junior engineering staff

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing electrical systems for healthcare (FGI Guidelines), theme park, or municipal/government facilities
  • LEED AP or similar sustainability credential
  • Licensed in multiple U.S. states (firm supports multi-state licensure)
