A Home Health Aide (HHA) provides personal care and support to individuals in their homes, helping them remain safe, comfortable, and independent. The HHA works under the supervision of a nurse or care coordinator and follows an established care plan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Help with mobility, transfers, and positioning
- Prepare light meals and assist with feeding as needed
- Provide companionship and emotional support
- Perform light housekeeping related to client care (laundry, dishes, tidying)
- Remind clients to take medications (no administration unless certified)
- Monitor and report changes in condition or behavior to the supervisor
- Run errands and assist with transportation when required
- Follow safety, infection control, and privacy guidelines
Skills and Qualifications:
- HHA certification or training (as required by state)
- CPR/BLS certification (preferred)
- Compassionate, patient, and reliable
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to follow a care plan and work independently
- Physically able to assist with transfers and long periods of standing
