Finance Manager / Controller (IT Services & Consulting)

Position Summary

Bizmetric is seeking a hands-on Finance Manager / Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, cash flow management, budgeting, and project profitability. This role is ideal for a finance professional with experience in IT consulting, professional services, staffing, or SaaS organizations.

The successful candidate will build scalable financial processes, improve cash flow, manage AR/AP operations, and provide financial insights that support business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
• Develop and maintain annual budgets and forecasts.
• Provide financial analysis and recommendations to leadership.
• Monitor financial performance against budget and targets.

Cash Flow & Working Capital

• Manage weekly and monthly cash flow forecasting.
• Monitor cash position and working capital requirements.
• Develop strategies to improve cash collections and reduce DSO.
• Optimize payment schedules and vendor management.

Accounts Receivable & Billing Oversight

• Supervise client billing processes.
• Review invoice accuracy and contract compliance.
• Monitor collections activities and AR aging.
• Ensure timely resolution of billing disputes.

Accounts Payable & Expense Management

• Oversee vendor onboarding and payment processing.
• Ensure compliance with approval workflows.
• Monitor operating expenses and budget adherence.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities.

Project Accounting & Revenue Recognition

• Track project profitability and gross margins.
• Monitor consultant utilization and billable hours.
• Review project revenue recognition in accordance with accounting standards.
• Analyze project performance and resource allocation.

Financial Reporting & KPIs

Develop and maintain dashboards tracking:

• Revenue growth
• Gross margin %
• Project profitability
• Consultant utilization %
• DSO (Days Sales Outstanding)
• Cash balance and runway
• Backlog and pipeline conversion
• Operating expenses

Compliance & Controls

• Maintain accounting policies and procedures.
• Coordinate annual tax filings and audits.
• Manage relationships with external CPA firms.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Systems & Process Improvement

• Optimize financial processes and automation.
• Manage accounting systems and reporting tools.
• Support ERP and financial software implementations.
• Improve operational efficiency through data-driven decision making.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7+ years of accounting and finance experience.
• 3+ years in a Controller, Finance Manager, or Senior Accountant role.
• Experience in IT consulting, professional services, staffing, or SaaS environments.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills.

Preferred

• CPA designation.
• Experience with:

First 12 Months

• Reduce DSO below 45 days.
• Deliver monthly financials within 5 business days.
• Improve collections efficiency.
• Implement rolling 13-week cash flow forecast.
• Improve project margin visibility.
• Maintain invoice accuracy above 99%.

A proactive finance leader who can function as both a strategic advisor and a hands-on operator. The ideal candidate is comfortable reviewing financial statements in the morning, resolving customer billing issues in the afternoon, and presenting cash flow forecasts to the CEO at the end of the day.
