We are seeking a skilled and dependable Lead Journeyman Boilermaker to support the fabrication, installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, and related equipment. This role combines advanced hands-on trade expertise with leadership responsibilities, including mentoring team members, coordinating work activities, and helping ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.
Responsibilities
- Perform layout, fabrication, assembly, installation, maintenance, and repair of boilers, pressure vessels, and related mechanical systems.
- Lead and support a team of boilermakers and craft workers in daily work assignments.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, work orders, and specifications to complete assigned tasks accurately.
- Inspect equipment and components for wear, damage, leaks, defects, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, cutting equipment, rigging gear, and measuring instruments safely and effectively.
- Plan work sequences, coordinate materials and equipment, and help maintain productivity on the job site.
- Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, permit processes, and site-specific regulations.
- Communicate with supervisors, peers, and other trades to support workflow and project completion.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and equipment conditions as required.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and on-the-job support to less experienced team members.
Qualifications
- Journeyman-level boilermaker experience with demonstrated leadership or lead-hand responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of boiler systems, pressure vessel work, structural assembly, and related trade practices.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Experience with fitting, welding, cutting, rigging, and installation methods commonly used in boiler and vessel work.
- Working knowledge of safety regulations, hazard recognition, and job site best practices.
- Ability to work independently, lead others, and coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to perform demanding industrial work, including climbing, lifting, kneeling, standing, and working in varied environments.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of an approved boilermaker apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
- Current welding certifications or related trade certifications, where applicable.
- Experience working in industrial, power generation, manufacturing, refinery, or heavy construction environments.
- Familiarity with inspection standards, pressure testing, and preventative maintenance practices.
