Job Location: North Carolina territory
Travel: 100% home weekly
Compensation: $95,000 to $125,000 + discretionary project bonuses
Work Setting: Onsite, project-based

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Superintendent with a strong background in Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) or Heavy Civil construction projects. This role is pivotal in managing field operations, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. The position requires full-time travel throughout Tennessee with weekly returns home.
Key Responsibilities
Project Pre-Construction & Planning
- Review drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to ensure alignment with contract requirements.
- Develop and manage 3-week look-ahead schedules and participate in progress review meetings.
- Coordinate project documentation, shop drawing reviews, and pre-construction activities.
- Lead site setup and organization.
Field Operations
- Supervise and coordinate subcontractors and site personnel across all project phases.
- Enforce safety protocols and conduct toolbox talks, site inspections, and incident reporting.
- Maintain accurate as-built drawings, site logs, and daily activity documentation.
- Monitor construction progress and proactively address field challenges.
Team & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the on-site liaison for project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients.
- Cultivate strong working relationships with field crews, vendors, and consultants.
- Support recruitment, training, and performance management of field personnel.
Cost & Risk Control
- Track field expenses, materials, labor, and subcontractor performance.
- Ensure project scope alignment to prevent scope creep and unnecessary change orders.
- Support cost tracking and maintain daily documentation of job site activity.
Health & Safety
- Enforce Occupational Health and Safety Act standards and internal safety policies.
- Lead and document all safety inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations.
- Maintain up-to-date safety records and documentation.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Superintendent
- Proven experience with Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) or Heavy Civil infrastructure projects
- Ability to travel full-time within Tennessee
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Proficient in interpreting blueprints, schedules, and field documentation
Preferred:
- Bachelors degree in Construction Science, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent technical training and experience)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk job sites, climb stairs and ladders, and navigate irregular surfaces
- Regular lifting/moving of materials up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable working in outdoor conditions and loud environments
- Able to respond to and communicate safety warnings quickly and clearly
