Job Description
The Warehouse Worker supports the production team by performing a variety of general labor and light equipment operation tasks to help meet daily production and operational goals. This role assists in areas such as melting, mixing, toting, and packaging, operates machinery on a short-term basis as needed, and completes the documentation required to track production activities in a food manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Support the production team by covering production shifts and assisting in multiple production areas as needed.
- Perform general production labor in areas such as melting, mixing, blending, and toting.
- Complete tasks of Mixer Attendant and Melting Attendant and provide support to Operator I and Operator II when required.
- Fill drums and pails with finished product accurately and safely.
- Operate and maintain production machinery and equipment related to general labor to ensure daily production numbers and goals are met or exceeded.
- Operate a stand-up electric forklift approximately 10% of the time to move materials, tag pallets, and support warehouse activities.
- Tag pallets, stack pallets, and stage finished goods and materials for storage or shipment.
- Load and unload trucks in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
- Complete required paperwork and documentation for tracking labor tasks such as melting, mixing, and toting.
- Follow all company and department-specific quality procedures, including FSSC and GMP requirements.
- Complete all required quality, safety, FSSC, and GMP training and apply this knowledge in daily work.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in all areas of the department and follow all GMP and safety regulations.
- Demonstrate a willingness to perform physical labor and assist in various tasks across the production floor as needed.
Essential Skills
- 2+ years of warehouse experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- 2+ years of stand-up electric forklift operating experience.
- Hands-on experience with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) in a production or warehouse setting.
- Experience with machine operation in a production environment.
- Experience with batch mixing and blending processes.
- Ability and willingness to perform physical general labor tasks.
- Ability to complete production and labor tracking paperwork accurately.
- Commitment to following safety regulations, FSSC standards, and GMP requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a chocolate factory or similar confectionery production environment.
- Familiarity with filling drums and pails with finished product in a food manufacturing setting.
- Comfort working around melting, mixing, and toting operations.
- Strong attention to cleanliness and organization in accordance with GMP standards.

Work Environment
The role is based in a food manufacturing and warehouse environment that includes production areas for melting, mixing, blending, toting, and packaging. You work around industrial machinery and equipment and occasionally operate a stand-up electric forklift to move materials and finished goods. The environment requires adherence to strict GMP, quality, safety, and FSSC standards, including maintaining high levels of cleanliness and organization throughout the facility. Work hours follow typical production and warehouse schedules, and you may move between different production areas depending on operational needs. Appropriate work attire must comply with food manufacturing and GMP requirements, including any required protective gear or hygiene-related clothing as defined by site policies.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $19.50/hr.
