Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into a meaningful role supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing as an on-site Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This full-time opportunity puts you at the heart of student achievement, working one-on-one to enhance classroom access and foster positive educational experiences.
Anticipate official vacancy confirmations and interviews soon—district budget approval is scheduled for June 8th, with a high likelihood of interviews taking place the following week. The assignment begins August 10, 2026, continuing through May 28, 2027, averaging 37.5 hours per week.
Key qualifications:
- Eligibility to interpret in educational settings
- EIPA level 3 or higher, OR
- RID certification: NIC, NAD, Educational Cert: K-12, or OTC
- Experience with interpreter/translator services for the deaf, preferably in schools
- Dedicated to supporting K-12 students through language access
Essential responsibilities:
- Provide accurate, impartial interpretation services for a 1:1 student caseload
- Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and peers in all classroom and school settings
- Support student participation in a variety of educational and extracurricular activities
- Collaborate effectively with educators and school staff to serve student needs
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Important details:
- Onsite presence required daily
- Age group is student-based (K-12); specific school assignments to be determined
- Two-part onboarding through the district is required (credentialing documentation provided upon placement)
- Completion of onboarding results in district-issued badge for campus access
