Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cath Lab/EP position requiring prior cath lab experience, scrub proficiency, and on-call availability including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting, Cardiac Cath Lab unit with 2 suites/labs averaging 10+ cases per day
- Patient population includes diagnostic left and right heart caths, PCI, IABP, Impella, temporary pacemakers, TCAR, EVAR, EKOS, AIF, IVC filters, infusaports, permacaths, and vascular surgery procedures (filters, venograms)
- RNs are responsible for circulating, sedating, and completing documentation; Rad Techs scrub and assist the physician
- Rad Tech team on staff; works collaboratively with a Director, Coordinator, and Charge Nurse
- Charting system: Epic (required); Siemens software and imaging equipment used in the lab
- Schedule is four 10-hour day shifts per week; start and stop times vary based on case volume and scheduling
- On-call requirement of one week per four-week schedule (Monday 7 AM to following Monday 7 AM); any off-clock hours during that week are on-call hours; travelers may split call days to equal one week per four-week schedule
- Weekend call coverage: Friday after hours through Monday 0700 (for weeks not on the Monday-to-Monday call rotation)
- Up to 7 call days per schedule, plus 1–2 late shifts per schedule
- Weekends and holidays covered on a rotational basis
- Call response time is 30 minutes
- No mandatory floating; optional extra hours available on other units for those with applicable experience
Requirements
- Active RN license in WV or a compact state currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum 1 year of Cath Lab experience required
- Scrub experience is required — candidates must be able to scrub
- Prior Cath Lab or related procedural/interventional experience required
- EKOS experience preferred; training available for qualified candidates
- Epic EMR experience required
- 2 references required for consideration: 1 supervisor reference (must be from most recent perm facility if worked within the last 12 months) and 1 peer or additional supervisor reference (e.g., Charge RN)
- Driver's license copy required for consideration
- Copies of all current certifications required for consideration
- Skills checklist completed within the past year required for consideration
Additional Information
- Surgical attire is provided; personal lead is not provided and must be sourced independently
- Orientation includes general hospital orientation, nursing orientation, and computer/department training totaling approximately one week or up to 36 hours
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position
- Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a minimum 2-year break before being considered
- Cumulative travel experience at WVU facilities cannot exceed one year; once that threshold is reached, a 2-year break is required before returning
