JOB SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Radiology Manager, the Radiologic Technologist will perform radiologic testing/treatment in accordance with TJC, federal, state, and local guidelines, organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Communicates with medical staff, other departments, and outside agencies while maintaining confidentiality. Position requires self-motivation, creativity, and capabilities to function in a semi-autonomous role within a fast pace and dynamic environment.


STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

1. Competent in Screening and diagnostic mammography

2. Competent in implant imaging

3. Competent in Bone Density scan

4. Competent in Stereotactic and Tomosynthesis Breast Biopsies

5. Competent to burn mammography discs for patients and outside facilities

6. Competent to retrieve, send and delete studies from Hologic manager

7. Competent to perform quality controls on mammography unit weekly, monthly quarterly and semi-annually

8. Competent in the use of our mammography tracking system (Magview) for mammography patients

9. Competent to track, print and mail mammography result notification letters

10. Competent to track, print and mail mammography recall letters

11. Competent to enter mammography bi-rads in Magview

12. Competent to be accountable for biopsy result notification to ordering providers

13. Competent to track and order and scan in EMR pathology results

14. Competent to request prior images and reports from outside mammography facilities

15. Competent to load mammography discs into our PACS system

16. Competent to scan mammography reports into Ginkgo system and upload into PACS

17. Competent to maintain supplies for mammography department

18.Attends organizational and departmental orientation upon employment and completes annual update and health requirements thereafter in accordance with timeframes specified by organizational policy.

19. Ensures adherence to proper infection control, OSHA and safety standards.

20. Comply with established safety precautions at all times.

21. Participate in discharge planning, development and implementation of patient care plans, patient assessments

as necessary.

22 Perform administrative requirements, as directed, such as completing necessary forms, reports, and data input.

23. Ensure safety and comfort of patients while going to and from Radiology Department.

24. Coordinate radiology exams with other departments.

25. Perform radiology exams in patient’s room, emergency department, or operating room as necessary

26. Brief patient or family of procedures involved in radiology exams and prepare necessary equipment.

27. Maintain a current file of patients treated on an in-patient/out-patient basis.

28. Act as receptionist to patients for the Radiology Department.

29. Maintain treatment records, patient files, and progress notes, as required.

30. Recommend equipment and supply needs to the Radiology Manager.

31. Ensure that the Business Office receives charges for radiology exams rendered to patients.

32. Ensure that the department is maintained in a clean and safe manner for patient comfort and convenience.

33. Reassure patient before and during radiology exams.

34. Prepare the patient for exam by dress/position and administer radiology exam in accordance with established policies and procedures

35. Produce radiographs from positioning patient to developing films by automatic processing.

36. Assist in the distribution of transcribed radiology reports.

37. Act as a preceptor for new team members.

38. Participate in patient education, including family members when appropriate.

39. Participate in continuing education.

40. Perform other duties as assigned, needed, or required.

Requirements:

Minimum Level of Education: Education level equivalent to completion high school, and completion of an accredited radiologic technology program.

Formal Training: Completion of Accredited Radiologic Technology Program.

Licensure, Certification, Registration: Must have and maintain a current BLS CPR and current unencumbered membership with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, and be able to satisfy State of Georgia, TJC, and Federal Requirements, or the equivalent thereof.

Work Experience: Six months to one year experience in healthcare radiology is preferred.

Tools and Equipment Used:

Calculator, personal computer, telephone, facsimile machine, paper shredder, copier, printer, standard radiology equipment to include X-Ray or Mammography and/or Dexa.
