Position Overview
The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity and sustainability of Best Point’s programs. This position supports a wide range of accounting functions, enabling our educators, clinicians, and program leaders to focus on delivering life-changing services. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills, sound judgment, and a collaborative mindset, along with a commitment to accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support the month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and cash flow analysis to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Assist in preparing timely and accurate financial statements and internal reports
- Conduct departmental financial analysis and KPI reporting to support informed decision-making
- Prepare and reconcile grant and fund accounting entries
- Develop grant budgets, enter grant data into required systems, and complete monthly grant billing
- Reconcile accounts receivable, including billed and unbilled receivables, pledges, donations, and cash receipts
- Assist with annual audits, budget development, and various tax filings
- Ensure all internal and external reporting requirements are completed accurately, completely, and on time
- Maintain financial data and systems related to accounting applications
- Participate in ongoing training related to billing and financial systems
- Collaborate with internal program teams and external partners to obtain documentation and support timely, accurate receivables
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual financial reports
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Experience working with accounting and billing systems
- Strong proficiency in spreadsheets and Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and exercise sound independent judgment
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
Work Environment:
Exposed to a combination of office, school and mental health treatment environments. Exposed to children with behavior problems. May be exposed to shouting and children who are upset.
