Job Title: Delivery Driver / Warehouse Associate
Job Description
This role combines medical supply delivery with light warehouse duties to support hospitals across the greater Houston area. You will load a sprinter van with small medical device products, follow pre-planned delivery routes, restock hospital medical closets, and maintain accurate inventory records using Microsoft Teams. The position offers a steady workflow, a predictable day shift schedule, and the opportunity to grow into other roles within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Load and organize a sprinter van each day with small medical device products needed for scheduled hospital routes.
- Drive safely throughout the greater Houston area, including routes that may extend from Lake Jackson to Conroe and from Baytown to Katy, following pre-determined and efficient routes.
- Obtain and maintain hospital badges as required to access treatment centers and medical supply areas.
- Enter hospital treatment centers, inspect medical closets, and identify items that are in short supply or need replenishment.
- Take detailed notes on inventory needs, return to the van, and use a dolly to transport the required products back into the hospital.
- Restock hospital medical closets neatly and accurately, ensuring products are organized and easy for staff to access.
- Collect patient-related medical paperwork as directed, return it to the vehicle, file it properly, and submit it to the appropriate internal contact.
- Use Microsoft Teams to track inventory, complete daily reports, log routes, and document deliveries and restocking activities.
- Maintain an organized storage area in the sprinter van, arranging products in a logical, efficient system while keeping it consistently tidy.
- Support warehouse operations in a small local facility by stocking shelves, organizing products, and assisting with quarterly inventory counts.
- Clean and maintain the warehouse area during slower periods to ensure a safe, orderly work environment.
- Coordinate with another driver, regional leadership, office personnel, and hospital staff to ensure timely deliveries and accurate inventory levels.
- Adhere to scheduled day shift hours, typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and adjust start times when appropriate by effectively planning routes.
- Participate in an on-call rotation as assigned, remaining available for occasional after-hours needs, with any on-call work paid at overtime rates.
- Operate and care for an 8'6" tall sprinter van, including monitoring fuel levels and vehicle condition, while using the provided gas card for fuel and maintenance-related expenses.
- Present a neat, professional appearance at all times and follow the specified dress code when working in hospitals and at the warehouse.
Essential Skills
- Proven ability to safely drive throughout the greater Houston area, including long routes that may accumulate 2,000 to 3,000 miles per month.
- Previous delivery driving experience, ideally in roles involving routes, package handling, or medical supply delivery.
- Strong computer skills, including extensive experience using Microsoft Teams for communication, reporting, and inventory tracking.
- Ability to stock shelves accurately and efficiently, including lifting and moving lightweight products using a dolly as needed.
- Organizational skills to maintain an orderly van, manage multiple hospital stops, and keep accurate records and paperwork.
- Clear and professional communication skills for interacting with hospital staff, internal team members, and leadership.
- Neat and professional appearance appropriate for working in hospital environments and representing the company.
- Reliability and punctuality to adhere to day shift hours and manage routes within the scheduled time frame.
- Comfort working independently on the road while coordinating effectively with a small local team.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with medical supplies or in a medical delivery environment.
- Experience in roles such as delivery driver for parcel carriers, warehouse associate, or orthotic technician.
- Familiarity with driving and organizing a sprinter van or similar commercial vehicle.
- Experience handling paperwork related to medical or logistical operations.
- Ability to adapt routes and daily plans when needed while maintaining efficiency.
- Comfort working with a variety of similar products that differ by size or specification.
Why Work Here?
The organization offers a stable and predictable workflow in a supportive environment where you can focus on doing your job well without excessive oversight. You will work a straightforward day shift schedule with weekends off, and you receive a company gas card that covers fuel and vehicle-related maintenance expenses. The role is designed to be easygoing and hands-off when you are meeting expectations, and there are clear opportunities to advance into other positions within the company as you grow your skills and experience.
Work Environment
You will primarily work on the road in an 8'6" tall sprinter van, typically driving 2,000 to 3,000 miles per month across the greater Houston area. Routes are currently pre-determined and designed for efficiency, covering locations that may range from Lake Jackson to Conroe and from Baytown to Katy. You have flexibility to organize the storage area of the van in the way that works best for you, as long as it remains neat and orderly. A small warehouse located in Stafford serves as your base, housing approximately 248 different lightweight products, many of which are similar items in different sizes. The local team includes one other driver, a regional leader, and two office personnel, creating a small, collaborative environment where you coordinate regularly with both internal colleagues and hospital staff. The role follows a day shift schedule, typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the option to start earlier if you plan your route effectively. An on-call component provides an additional weekly stipend, with a low likelihood of being called in, and any on-call hours worked are paid at overtime rates. Dress expectations include a professional polo, tennis shoes (not clogs or similar footwear), and professional pants or jeans in cooler weather, with professional cargo shorts acceptable in warmer months, similar to what you might see from parcel delivery drivers.
