Job Description

PrideStaff is seeking an experienced, hands-on HR Generalist to oversee day-to-day human resources operations for our growing construction team in New Orleans. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the unique labor dynamics, safety regulations, and compliance standards specific to the construction industry. Operating 100% on-site, you will serve as the primary point of contact for both our field crews and management team, ensuring smooth communication, robust talent acquisition, and strict adherence to employment laws.

Responsibilities:

· Recruitment & Onboarding: Manage the full-cycle recruitment process for field labor, skilled trades (foremen, operators, laborers), and administrative staff. Coordinate local hiring events and streamline the onboarding process to get crews job-site ready quickly.

· Employee Relations & Field Communication: Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and management. Regularly engage with field crews to resolve grievances, manage conflict, and foster a positive, productive safety culture.

· Compliance & Labor Laws: Ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, including Davis-Bacon Act/Prevailing Wage requirements, EEOC, and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) regulations specific to construction.

· Safety & Workers' Compensation: Partner with the Safety Director to manage workers' compensation claims, track OSHA recordkeeping, and support the implementation of drug-free workplace policies.

· Payroll & Benefits Support: Assist the finance team with time-tracking compliance, multi-state or local tax withholdings for field staff, and the administration of company benefits enrollment.

· HR Administration: Maintain accurate employee files, manage certifications/licenses required for specific job sites, and handle offboarding/termination processes.

Qualifications & Requirements

· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent field experience). SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a strong plus.

· Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of HR Generalist experience, specifically within the construction, engineering, or heavy industrial sectors.

· Industry Knowledge: Strong familiarity with construction-specific HR challenges (e.g., high-turnover recruiting, certified payroll basics, OSHA compliance, and managing non-routine field schedules).

· Location/Availability: Ability to work 100% in-person at our New Orleans office, with occasional visits to local job sites.

· Technical & Language Skills: Proficiency with HRIS platforms, applicant tracking systems (ATS), and MS Excel, Foundation, and Arcoro. Strong conflict-resolution skills and a thick skin capable of navigating busy construction environments. Excellent bilingual communication skills (English/Spanish) are highly valued but not required.

What They Offer:

· Competitive salary based on experience ($60,000 - $65,000+ depending on qualifications).

· Comprehensive benefits package (Medical, Dental, Vision).

· Paid Time Off (PTO) and holiday pay.

· A dynamic, collaborative team environment rooted in the local New Orleans community.
