Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A skilled Sign Language Interpreter is sought to support effective communication within educational settings. This role offers opportunities in both local and travel contracts, located in the Holton, KS area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear and accurate communication between deaf and hard-of-hearing students, their peers, and educators.
- Interpret classroom discussions, school events, and other educational activities using American Sign Language (ASL).
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure understanding of students' needs.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Adapt interpreting methods to fit various classroom settings and student requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with interpreter certification preferred.
- Experience working with children in educational or similar settings.
- Strong communication skills and cultural competence.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments effectively.
- Eligible candidates for travel positions must reside at least 75 miles from the district.
