A lovely Bay Area family of five is seeking a talented, low-key Private Chef to join their household team. The ideal candidate is a true culinary professional with a passion for fresh, farm-to-table cooking, sourcing the highest quality ingredients, and preparing meals that reflect both health-conscious living and global inspiration. The family enjoys a variety of cuisines, particularly Japanese, Mediterranean, and other international flavors, and requires someone who can thoughtfully accommodate dietary preferences and restrictions, including pescatarian meals. This role offers a consistent weekly schedule with generous downtime when the family travels.
Responsibilities
- Provide dinner service five nights per week (Sunday–Thursday), with Fridays and Saturdays off.
- Prepare fresh, farm-to-table meals using seasonal and high-quality ingredients.
- Cook a variety of cuisines with emphasis on Japanese, Mediterranean, and other global inspirations.
- Accommodate dietary needs and preferences, including pescatarian meals.
- Prepare separate meals for small staff, or set aside suitable leftovers.
- Support entertaining, including informal family gatherings, weekly guest dinners, and formal dinner parties (6–12 guests, with extra support for larger events).
- Collaborate with household staff to ensure seamless service for events and daily meals.
- Manage kitchen organization, inventory, and sourcing of ingredients.
- Travel occasionally with the family and adapt menus as needed.
- Split time between the Peninsula and San Francisco residences (will vary.)
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Private Chef or in fine dining environments.
- Strong background in farm-to-table cooking and use of fresh, seasonal ingredients.
- Skilled in a wide variety of cuisines, with emphasis on Japanese, Mediterranean, and globally inspired menus.
- Ability to accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences with creativity and care.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to plan and execute menus independently.
- Flexible, low-key, and collaborative, with a discreet and professional demeanor.
- Comfortable with occasional travel and shifting between multiple residences.
- Culinary degree preferred but not required with equivalent experience.

Compensation & Benefits
- Schedule: Sunday-Thursday (Friday/Saturday off) - primarily dinner service, with occasional special requests
- Compensation: 160-200K DOE, benefits (M/D/V), 401K + Discretionary Bonus
- Location: SF & Peninsula
