In this role, you'll combine your expertise in optical dispensing with clinical support responsibilities, including pre-testing for telemedicine eye examinations. You'll work in a modern, fast-paced practice that values outstanding patient care, advanced technology, and premium eyewear solutions.
If you thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy combining technical expertise, patient education, and sales, we'd love to meet you.
Responsibilities

- Perform pre-testing for telemedicine eye examinations, including visual acuity, auto-refraction, non-contact tonometry, color vision, stereopsis, and other diagnostic screening tests.
- Obtain and accurately document patient medical, ocular, medication, and family history in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Prepare patients for examinations by ensuring all preliminary testing is completed efficiently and accurately.
- Operate, calibrate, clean, and maintain diagnostic testing equipment.
- Assist the optometrist by providing complete and accurate pre-test information to support patient care.
- Guide patients in selecting frames and lenses that best fit their prescription, lifestyle, occupational needs, and budget.
- Confidently recommend premium lens technologies, coatings, photochromic lenses, polarized lenses, blue light filtering options, and other specialty products.
- Take precise optical measurements, including pupillary distance (PD), monocular PDs, fitting heights, and other dispensing measurements.
- Verify completed eyewear using a lensometer and ensure all eyewear meets prescription and quality standards.
- Perform frame adjustments, fittings, repairs, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal comfort and vision.
- Educate patients on lens options, eyewear care, warranty programs, and product maintenance.
- Process, verify, and track eyewear orders while maintaining accurate patient records.
- Maintain frame inventory, merchandising displays, and optical supplies.
- Deliver an exceptional patient experience from consultation through final eyewear delivery.
- Collaborate with doctors and team members to provide efficient, compassionate, and high-quality patient care.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as an optician is required.
- Strong sales, customer service, and communication skills.
- Ability to educate patients on premium lens options and specialty products without high-pressure sales tactics.
- Experience with progressive lenses, multifocal fittings, specialty eyewear, and lens verification.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and optical practice management software is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical and retail environment.
- Friendly, professional, dependable, and team-oriented attitude.
What We Offer

- Competitive pay based on experience and qualifications.
- Performance-based incentives and opportunities for career growth.
- Supportive, collaborative team environment.
