Clayton Services is searching for an Accountant to join a thriving company in North Houston. The Accountant will be responsible for the accounting, compliance, and reporting of government grants for the non-profit client.
Job Type: Temp-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $26.00/hour
Accountant Responsibilities:
- Managing government grant administration, encompassing tasks such as accounting, compliance, and reporting.
- Compiling financial information for grant applications and distributing monthly grant expense allocations.
- Providing requested documentation during monitoring reviews conducted by grant agencies.
- Monitoring expense variances against approved grant budgets, initiating necessary budget revision submissions, and collaborating with departments to address questionable expenditures.
- Timely preparation of invoices to granting agencies in adherence to regulations or contractual agreements.
- Preparing and reconciling accurate financial status reports for grant projects in assigned departments, ensuring review by the Controller, and timely submission to granting agencies.
- Submission of required grant budget revisions.
- Performing general ledger functions as assigned.
- Assisting in monthly and annual financial closings.
- Contributing in preparation of the annual budget and assisting in the annual audit conducted by independent CPA's.
- Completion of other duties as assigned.
Accountant Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Knowledge of Blackbaud Financial Edge is highly desired.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
Accountant Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business-related.
- Previous non-profit experience is highly preferred.
- 3+ years of hands-on accounting experience, preferably dealing with grants.
