Licensed Commercial Elevator Mechanic / Adjuster


Location: Myrtle Beach, SC (relocation assistance provided)

Position Overview


As a licensed Elevator Mechanic/Adjuster, youll be responsible for finely tuning and maintaining commercial elevator systemsensuring safety, compliance, and peak performance with mechanical, electrical, and control systems.

Key Responsibilities


  • Inspect and adjust elevator and escalator systems to meet factory and safety standards using hand tools and measuring devices

  • Troubleshoot issues with doors, brakes, motors, cables, and controls.

  • Collaborate with technicians and engineers to resolve complex technical challenges.

  • Perform preventive maintenance, adjustments, and repairs on hydraulic, traction, and electronic systems

  • Accurately record maintenance activities and compliance test results.

  • Manage component replacements, adjust timing/control settings, counterweights, and safety systems

  • Stay current with code updates, safety protocols, and industry standards.

Required Qualifications


  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or apprenticeship credentials in elevator technology preferred

  • 5+ years experience as an elevator mechanic or adjuster.

  • Valid state commercial elevator mechanic license; licensure must meet local regulations

  • Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills; proficient with schematics and control systems.

  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret technical documentation.

Skills & Tools


  • Hands-on experience with mechanical adjustments and electrical troubleshooting.

  • Knowledge of safety controls, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and industrial-grade measuring instruments.

  • Proficiency with tools like tachometers, voltmeters, micrometers, calipers, and hand tools.

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
