GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
Under direct supervision the Snow Removal Crew Member is responsible for performing snow removal at assigned work sites in a timely and efficient manner. Incumbent is also responsible for various activities including but not limited to applying salt or ice melt, identifying safety risks, using a snow blower and shovels, completing service logs, and reporting status to assigned supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Ensure timely and efficient snow removal to meet client expectations.
- Shovel snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots as directed and required by provided work order.
- Spread salt or ice melt on walkways and surfaces to prevent ice buildup.
- Operate snow removal equipment, such as snow blowers and shovels.
- Monitor weather conditions and respond promptly when contacted for on-call shifts.
- Report any unsafe conditions or equipment issues to supervisor.
- Follow all safety guidelines and use appropriate protective gear.
- Complete documentation and reports as directed.
ADDITIONAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of hour worked in our timekeeping system.
- Carries out duties in compliance with all federal and state regulations and guidelines.
- Successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements.
- Complies with all company and site policies and procedures.
- Remains current in profession and industry trends.
- Makes a positive contribution as demonstrated by: making suggestions for improvement and learning new skills, procedures and processes.
- Is available for other duties as required.
- Is available for overtime as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- None
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED.
- No Other Experience Required.
- Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test and background check.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and standard operating procedure manuals.
OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES OR QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including shoveling snow and spreading salt.
- Availability to work on short notice during winter storms.
- Reliable transportation to job sites.
- Ability to work in cold and inclement weather conditions.
- Demonstrate a strong attention to safety and detail.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining speed of work and attention to detail without loss to production.
- Ability to work with others in a team environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle or feel, and talk or hear.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
