Job Summary:

The Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA) conducts behavioral assessments, direct behaviorally-based interventions and behavioral consultation services to identified clients with autism, developmental disabilities, mental health disorders or other behavioral disorders in a variety of settings. This position works in a multi-disciplinary team of professionals and provides expertise in learning theory and applied behavior analysis. This position plans intervention strategies for identified clients, oversees the implementation of these strategies, and gathers and interprets outcome data.

Required Education and Experience:

The LBA must be licensed as a Behavior Analyst in the state in which they are practicing as well as certified through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.

Other requirements for this position include:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, have current automobile insurance and a reliable vehicle.
  • Training and experience in conducting Discrete Trial Training and a working knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis.
  • Ability to work independently to meet job requirements and productivity expectations.
  • Willingness to maintain a flexible schedule to meet client needs, managing appointment cancellations and prioritizing activities when needed.
  • A desire to work in home and community settings with children and/or adults having difficulties.
  • Comfort and ability working with clients who may exhibit behavior problems.
  • Skills to work with a variety of cultures.
  • Skills in managing emotionally-charged situations / crises.
  • Sufficient organizational skills to manage daily charting requirements.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers for management of outcome data and development of graphs.

Essential Functions:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct functional behavior analytic assessments to develop the basis for needed services by the client.
  • Assist in the development of Comprehensive Multi-Disciplinary Evaluations for identified clients, as required by insurance.
  • Provide one-to-one or group behavior analytic intervention services in keeping with the client’s treatment plan.
  • Provide supervision and oversight for technician staff to ensure proper implementation of intervention strategies.
  • Conduct treatment plan updates in keeping with third party requirements, at least every six months.
  • Maintain behavioral data and graphs for identified target behaviors.
  • Provide consultation and training to parents or other caregivers to ensure generalization of skills learned in the training environment.
  • Provide clinical supervision to trainees as identified.
  • Provide behavioral consultation for identified cases.
  • Provide training to staff, as needed.
  • Follow guidelines of third-party payers in the provision of services.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain state licensure and board certification.
  • Complete 20 hours per year of training/continuing education, in keeping with agency policy.
  • Participate in required agency orientation and annual in-service training.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Attend supervision meetings as scheduled.
  • Complete documentation within agency guidelines.
  • Ensure client files follow applicable standards and agency policy.
  • Complete staff time and expense sheets bi-weekly for payroll processing.
  • Adhere to HIPAA privacy guidelines, data security expectations and mandated reporting requirements, notifying management immediately of any breaches or concerns.

  • Maintain accuracy in documentation of service time.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

This position works in both an office setting and in the community, such as in client homes or in other agencies providing services to the client. Under normal circumstances the LBA will need to have the physical capacity to continuously use his/her hands for simple and firm grasping and fine manipulation. The employee may be required to do the following:

  • Lift and carry 25-100 lbs.
  • Push/Pull
  • Squat/Kneel/Stoop
  • Bend
  • Twist upper, and lower back

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, hours will fluctuate based on workload and client schedule. Occasional weekend work will be required based on client needs.

Travel: This position requires some local travel each day, between the office, school, home and community training locations.
