Job Description
We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer with strong expertise in NX CAM and Fast-hole EDM drilling to support advanced manufacturing operations. This role involves developing CNC programs, supporting shop floor operations, and driving continuous process improvements in a high-performance manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate and maintain CNC programs utilizing NX CAM or similar CAM software, including multi-axis milling, turning, grinding, and/or EDM operations.
- Focus on Fast-hole EDM drilling and multi-axis small hole drilling processes.
- Verify new CNC programs prior to shop floor release using Vericut or equivalent CNC verification tools.
- Provide CNC programming support to Manufacturing Engineering (M.E.) teams and assist with operator training during new or rebuilt machine startups and process improvements.
- Deliver daily operator support including CNC troubleshooting and program optimization.
- Support tooling and fixturing requirements for CNC machine tools.
- Create and maintain workstation instructions and process documentation for CNC-related activities.
- Initiate and lead process improvement projects focused on safety, quality, cost reduction, and delivery improvements.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Work independently and collaboratively within a matrixed organization.
- Adapt and perform effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while supporting positive operational change.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree, Associate’s Degree, or Machinist Apprenticeship (or equivalent) with 3+ years of experience in graphical CAM-based CNC programming
- OR
- High School Diploma/GED with 6+ years of experience in graphical CAM-based CNC programming
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Siemens NX CAM (1953 version or later)
- Hands-on experience with Fast-hole EDM drilling
- Strong ability to generate toolpaths and create helper geometry to drive machining paths
- Experience with FANUC Macro B for probing, tool selection, data capture, and hole-location logic; ability to read and extend existing macros
- Familiarity with 3-2-1 (six-point) nesting and basic probing routines
- Working knowledge of CMM and metrology concepts
- Ability to apply trigonometry and basic matrix rotations directly in CNC code without reliance on external software
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Machine Tool Technology (preferred)
- Strong problem-solving skills and solid shop math (geometry & trigonometry)
- Experience using Vericut or other CNC simulation software
- Familiarity with multiple machine controls including Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, and Siemens
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience machining high-temperature superalloys used in aerospace or heavy-duty gas turbine components
