This role involves developing CNC programs, supporting shop floor operations, and driving continuous process improvements in a high-performance manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate and maintain CNC programs utilizing NX CAM or similar CAM software, including multi-axis milling, turning, grinding, and/or EDM operations.
  • Focus on Fast-hole EDM drilling and multi-axis small hole drilling processes.
  • Verify new CNC programs prior to shop floor release using Vericut or equivalent CNC verification tools.
  • Provide CNC programming support to Manufacturing Engineering (M.E.) teams and assist with operator training during new or rebuilt machine startups and process improvements.
  • Deliver daily operator support including CNC troubleshooting and program optimization.
  • Support tooling and fixturing requirements for CNC machine tools.
  • Create and maintain workstation instructions and process documentation for CNC-related activities.
  • Initiate and lead process improvement projects focused on safety, quality, cost reduction, and delivery improvements.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Work independently and collaboratively within a matrixed organization.
  • Adapt and perform effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while supporting positive operational change.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Associate’s Degree, or Machinist Apprenticeship (or equivalent) with 3+ years of experience in graphical CAM-based CNC programming

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Siemens NX CAM (1953 version or later)
  • Hands-on experience with Fast-hole EDM drilling
  • Strong ability to generate toolpaths and create helper geometry to drive machining paths
  • Experience with FANUC Macro B for probing, tool selection, data capture, and hole-location logic; ability to read and extend existing macros
  • Familiarity with 3-2-1 (six-point) nesting and basic probing routines
  • Working knowledge of CMM and metrology concepts
  • Ability to apply trigonometry and basic matrix rotations directly in CNC code without reliance on external software
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Machine Tool Technology (preferred)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and solid shop math (geometry & trigonometry)
  • Experience using Vericut or other CNC simulation software
  • Familiarity with multiple machine controls including Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, and Siemens
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
