The Assistant Director of Nursing assumes the role of a management position involved with the leadership and delivery of clinical nursing services. The ADON ensures that nursing standards are adhered to in the delivery of care and that quality-of-care outcomes are realized. In the absence of the DON, the ADON formally represents the nursing department.
Salary Range: $91,000 - $110,000
Hours/Schedule: 40hrs /week, Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:00pm
12 Month Retention Bonus: $5,000
Essential Qualifications:
Educational: Graduate of accredited RN Nursing program, BSN preferred
Licensure: Current Massachusetts RN License
Skills:
Solid management and interpersonal abilities necessary. Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously and meet required deadlines. Ability to maintain assigned work hours. Has sufficient endurance to perform tasks over a long period of time. Must have the ability to perform essential job functions without posing a “direct threat” to residents or other staff.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinates and directs the implementation of resident care on all designated units within the facility.
 - Works closely with Nurse Manager/Unit Manager to ensure adequate staffing and the effective delivery of clinical services.
 - Assists the Director of Nursing in analyzing and evaluating Nursing Department needs and identifying resources to complete facility mission
 - Facilitates maintenance of resident assessment and MDS/OBRA process within the facility.
 - Assist the DON with Infection Control, Employee Health and Staff Development oversight.
 - Participates/attends inter-disciplinary meeting with families.
 - Participates as needed in updating care plans and resident assessments
 - Monitors and evaluates nursing staff performance
 - Participates in discipline and counseling of staff.
 - Participates in the ongoing Quality Improvement efforts within the facility.
 - May visit hospitals to pre-screen potential residents.
 - Attend and participates on appropriate committees and conferences
 - Ensures compliance with OSHA, DPH, and JCAHO guidelines.
 - Collaborates with Staff Development Coordinator/Unit Managers in planning, teaching and evaluating Staff development programs.
 - Protects the privacy and confidentiality of residents.
 - May participate in the orientation of new staff as needed.
 - Maintains positive working relationship between nursing staff and other departments
 - Will participate in the on-call weekend and holiday rotation.
 - Provides direct care as necessary.
