Job Description

The Occupational Therapist will provide high-quality care to each assigned patient, resident, or client with daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident/patient/ or client's assessment and plan of care.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assessing the functional abilities and limitations of residents through comprehensive evaluations.
  2. Developing individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and resident goals.
  3. Implementing evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to enhance residents' independence and quality of life.
  4. Providing therapeutic activities and exercises to improve residents' motor skills, coordination, balance, and strength.
  5. Evaluating the need for assistive devices, adaptive equipment, and modifications to improve residents' ability to perform daily activities.
  6. Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, nurses, and physical therapists, to ensure a coordinated and interdisciplinary approach to resident care.
  7. Monitoring and documenting residents' progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  8. Educating residents and their families on therapeutic techniques, home exercise programs, and strategies to optimize independence.
  9. Adhering to legal, ethical, and professional standards of occupational therapy practice.
  10. Participating in team meetings, staff development activities, and continuing education to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  1. Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of New York.
  2. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  3. Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems and other relevant software applications.
  4. Commitment to delivering compassionate care and promoting the well-being of residents.
