Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A part-time opportunity is available for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, providing specialized educational services at the high school level in the Aurora, CO area. This contract position focuses on delivering both direct and indirect support to students with visual impairments, with a flexible schedule to acmodate the needs of both the student and the educator. The duration of the job aligns with the current school year cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction and support to visually impaired students
- Collaborate with educational teams to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Provide orientation and mobility training as needed to enhance student independence
- Maintain detailed records of student progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly
Qualifications:
- Valid Colorado Department of Education license
- Endorsement as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
- Previous teaching experience preferred, ideally 2 or more years
- Skills in orientation and mobility are a significant asset
Location: Aurora, Colorado (with services also applicable to Brighton area students)
