Job Description

The Emergency Management Coordinator is in charge of making, carrying out, and keeping up emergency preparedness and response plans to keep the organisation and community safe from natural and man-made disasters. This job works with local, state, and federal agencies to make sure that rules are followed and that emergency response is effective. The Coordinator is also in charge of training, drills, and raising public awareness.

Main Duties:

Plan Development: Make, change, and put into action thorough emergency response and preparedness plans that follow federal, state, and local laws.

Coordination: Be the main point of contact for public safety agencies, government officials, healthcare facilities, and community groups.

Risk Assessment: Find out how likely hazards are to happen and suggest ways to reduce their impact.

Training and Drills: Set up and run emergency response training, tabletop exercises, and full-scale drills for employees and other interested parties.

Incident Response: Set up and run the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) during events, and make sure that resources and communications are in sync.

Public Communication: Make and send out emergency communication materials, advisories, and updates to staff and the community.

Compliance: Make sure that all emergency management policies and procedures follow the rules set by FEMA, DHS, OSHA, and the state and local governments.

Documentation: Keep accurate records, write reports after incidents or exercises, and use continuous improvement processes to make things better.

Grant Management: Look into, apply for, and keep track of emergency management grants and other funding sources.

Community Engagement: Raise public awareness and knowledge about how to be ready for emergencies.

Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in a field related to emergency management, public safety, or something similar.
More than two years of experience in disaster response, emergency management, or public safety coordination.
Strongly preferred: certification in emergency management, such as CEM, AEM, or something similar.
You should know how to use the NIMS, ICS, and HSEEP guidelines.
Good at leading, talking to people, and organising things.
Ability to handle pressure and deal with emergencies outside of regular business hours.
Being able to use emergency management software and communication tools well.

Hourly Pay Rate: $32 - $50 per hour, commensurate with experience and credentials.
