Job Summary:
The Welder Lead is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing daily welding operations within the production environment. This individual ensures that all welding tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The Welder Lead will train and supervise team members, manage workflow, and coordinate with other departments to meet production goals. This position reports directly to the Tank Manager.Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate the work of welders on the production floor.
  • Schedule and prioritize welding tasks to meet production deadlines.
  • Perform complex welds and conduct quality inspections to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Train, coach, and mentor junior welders and new team members.
  • Monitor workflow and ensure adherence to project timelines and safety protocols.
  • Review and approve team members’ timecards and manage time punches in the HRIS system.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and implement disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the welding department.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align welding tasks with overall production schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and delivery standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Production Manager.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of industrial or commercial welding experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading, welding techniques, and inspection standards.
  • Experience in a production or metal fabrication environment preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to welding operations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Physical ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, lift up to 50lbs, and push/pull up to 100lbs.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
