Job Title: Instrument Test Technician I

Schedule: Monday–Friday
Shift: Day Shift
Pay Rate: $24.18 per hour
Location: Sparks Glencoe, MD

Job Overview

The Instrument Test Technician I performs production assembly operations and complete system analysis, testing, and performance optimization for moderately complex instruments. This role involves electrical, mechanical, and basic software troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve test equipment issues. The technician evaluates pass/fail performance data, escalates testing issues as needed, and serves as a subject matter expert in instrument functional performance while maintaining strict adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Build, integrate, and understand the full assembly process and requirements for instruments within the production area
  • Perform functional and release testing on at least one moderately complex instrument
  • Analyze test results and performance data to determine pass/fail status and implement corrective actions
  • Optimize system performance, including precision movement and/or light systems, using test data
  • Identify defects and recommend design or process improvements
  • Read and interpret drawings, work instructions, and workmanship standards
  • Train and support associates across a broad range of mechanical and testing activities
  • Process and disposition Quality Notifications (QNs)
  • Interface with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Purchasing as needed
  • Perform standard material handling functions for raw materials and sub-assemblies
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment through proper housekeeping
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety policies, housekeeping standards, and company procedures
  • Complete all work in accordance with defined specifications, operating procedures, and quality requirements
  • Support regulatory compliance and BD expectations for safety and quality
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Minimum Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED with minimum 3.5–6 years of relevant manufacturing or technical experience

OR

  • Associate (AA) technical degree with 2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment required
