Overview of the Role
This position involves the development and analysis of data utilizing statistical methods and tools to prepare information for committees, teams, and staff. You will be responsible for creating, managing, and assessing all components of the Infection Prevention program, ensuring compliance with current Federal, State, and Local standards, guidelines, and regulations as directed by the Quality Care Committee. This role supports the division's regional goal of delivering exceptional patient care in a caring, Christian environment by fostering positive employee relations and aiding departmental objectives. You will assist IPAC leadership in the surveillance, prevention, and control of infections.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate, facilitate, and implement quality improvement initiatives that align with the Hospital Quality Improvement Program.
- Provide education, guidance, and support to departments, administration, and medical staff regarding quality and infection prevention efforts, including the creation of presentations, graphs, and educational materials.
- Review, analyze, and compile reports on internal and external quality metrics and infection statistics; conduct clinical studies and summarize findings for reporting and educational purposes.
- Manage data downloads, formatting, and electronic submissions to vendors; maintain program logs and databases.
- Participate actively in assigned committees, including organizing meetings, preparing agendas, and drafting reports.
- Implement and monitor adherence to infection prevention and control (IPAC) policies and procedures; conduct surveillance using NHSN definitions and ensure accurate data submission.
- Investigate outbreaks, monitor infection trends, and propose performance improvement strategies; collaborate with public health for communicable disease reporting.
- Work with Employee Health, Environmental Safety, and departments to educate staff, monitor compliance, and suggest improvements; participate in environmental and departmental rounds.
- Stay updated on infection prevention knowledge through APIC membership, conferences, and continuing education.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
- Certification in Infection Control - Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC) Infection Prevention & Control (CIC) within 2 years.
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Active license from the Board of Nursing in the state of practice upon hire.
Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
- 1-3 years of acute care clinical nursing experience.
- Experience in healthcare data analysis and quality improvement.
